Never trust the weather forecast: anticipating rain and strong winds, I left Mawgan Porth just before 8.30 wrapped up to fight the elements. By 9.30 the skies were cloudless and there was what might be descibed as a light breeze blowing. A couple of layers soon went in the rucksack - Speedo Mick has got the right idea, keep the clothing simple.
The path was easy today and I was able to take in more of the scenery and surroundings, rather than concentrating on nothing more than getting from A to B. My knowledge of seabirds is pretty weak, I'm a bit better with the wildlife in the countryside. before today, I'd seen my first couple of swallows of the the year and heard the odd stonechat. Jack and Thomas had pointed out a frolicking seal colony yesterday, as well. Today, I was accompanied for a long way by the sound of skylarks and was eventually able to spot a few of the little critters. I did take a picture of a comorant but I was too far away to make it look like anything more than a blackbird.
The route took me through Padstow, the harbour above looking splendid in the sunshine, before I joined the Camel Trail to Wadebridge. At 18.6 miles, today was my longest walk so far but I was only out for 7 hrs.
Tomorrow, I head for Boscastle, rejoining the SWCP at Port Issac and heading through Tintagel. The forecast says I should be accompanied by 50mph wingds and 60% chance of rain all day. Shorts and t-shirt for me, then...
Finally, a quick picture of me joining in with some surfing mates during my lunch hour.
The miles are adding up! Good luck for tomorrow. Jackie x
