Day 2 - and the sun was shining

Today's route was from Zennor to Gwithian, taking in St Ives along the way. It was glorious sunshine all the way, without a breath of wind. I was ridiculously overdressed which led to me carrying half a wardrobe in my rucksack. Within half a mile of leaving Zennor, I came across Kirsty and Jo, who were also on the second day of the John o'Groats mission. Their schedule and route was quite different to mine,  and it is unlikely our paths will cross but they say they will follow my blog. I hope they will both use the comments so I can see how they are faring.

Progress was slow for the first four miles; it was as much bouldering as walking, but became easier after that and I was back in the van by 4.00pm, Suzanne meeting and accompanying me for the last couple of miles. If she didn't have the shopping she could have carried my rucksack...

I should have made clear yesterday that I don't just take three readings a day. When walking like this, I stop every couple of hours and judge food or insulin from there. Today's were slightly higher, which I was quite satisfied with: it usually takes me a few days to get a stable routine going on these type of jaunts. New technology such as the Libre can be really life-changing and help provide that confidence to get out and do things.

The weather is taking a turn overnight - it looks like a wet and windy 20 miler to Perranporth. We are staying right by Gwithian tonight, so I can be up and at 'em early, leaving Suze to a well-deserved lie in. Just hope she remembers to empty the chemical toilet before she goes.

  2. Great to hear from you! Weather not quite as nice today but I successfully reached Perranporth. Looks like it may be a tad damp for the next few days, hope you're progressing okay
